The Museum Villa Stuck is a nationally and internationally renowned meeting place for art from the 19th to the 21st century. An important collection of works by Franz von Stuck (1863-1928) and international exhibitions on art around 1900 as well as modern and contemporary art make the Museum Villa Stuck a unique venue of artistic life.
The group exhibition From Far Away. Images of the GDR features photographs from, and about, the GDR. On view are works in which photographic imagery – taken by the artists themselves (and used again) or borrowed from others – has been appropriated and rereleased for fresh viewing. Some of these works go beyond appropriation on the visual plane to interlock image and text in transmedial approaches, using one as the foil to the other and vice versa.
