Museum Brandhorst

Since opening in 2009, the Brandhorst Collection has grown dramatically from 700 to more than 1,200 artworks. The museum’s tenth birthday is the occasion for the first large-scale exhibition drawn entirely from this expanded collection, tracing an arc from the 1960s to the present day. A particular focus has been placed on acquisitions from recent years, including major works by Charline von Heyl, Louise Lawler, Amy Sillman, Seth Price, Wolfgang Tillmans, Arthur Jafa, Alexandra Bircken and Monika Baer, among others. For Various Others, the museum is hosting a panel discussion on hybrid institutional models.

Various Other Models
Panel discussion with Diana Campbell Betancourt, Mareike Dittmer and Tessa Praun

This event focuses on hybrid institutional models that are located on a spectrum between private initiative and public institution or that have transitioned from one to the other. How have the developments and debates in the art world in recent years structurally affected these models? To what extent does the globalized art public play a role within this conversation?
