Art and Politics: Prof. Dr. Du-Yul Song
Du-Yul Song is committed to an understanding and rapprochement between North and South Korea. Due to the National Security Law, he was imprisoned in South Korea in 2003 but released eight months later as the result of worldwide protests. Du-Yul Song is a sociologist and serves as professor emeritus at the University of Münster. In 1993, he became a naturalized citizen of Germany. He received his doctorate from Jürgen Habermas.

Art and History: Prof. Dr. Vladimir Tikhonov

Vladimir Tikhonov was born in the former USSR. He received his doctorate from Moscow State University, then worked as a journalist and historian in South Korea, where he adopted South Korean citizenship and the Korean name “Noja Pak.” He currently lives in Norway where he serves as a professor of Korean studies at Oslo University. His main area of interest is the post-colonial history of East Asia.
